Rev. Mary Sullivan-Trent, Pastor
Rev. Mary Sullivan-Trent, originally from Shenandoah, Virginia, grew up, went to school, and met her husband, Justin Trent, in her hometown. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies from Regent University in 2013, followed by a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in 2016.
Her husband, Justin Trent, graduated from Virginia Tech and is a structural engineer and business leader at Lynch Mykins, where he has worked for 17 years. Mary and Justin have six daughters: twins Micayla and Megan (19), who are both active-duty Marines; Isabelle (15); Emma (12); Gabrielle (10); and Aislin (8).
Apart from family life, Pastor Mary enjoys reading, naps, cooking, all kinds of music, and spending time in the Blue Ridge Mountains. For the past two years, she has managed a Starbucks store, finding joy in leading others and sharing her faith over coffee. She is enthusiastic about returning to ministry, appreciating the prospect of no longer having to wake up at 2 a.m. for work.
Mary's ministry passions include preaching, storytelling, connecting with the unchurched, helping believers to share their faith with others, and creating engaging and meaningful worship experiences for all generations.
Mary, Justin, and their daughters are very excited to be a part of the family of Bethany.
Ashleigh Moore-Orlowski, Administrative Asssistant
Ashleigh serves as the administrative assistant and enjoys helping things run smoothly behind the scenes. She loves coffee, tacos, and home baking, and values spending time with her family and dog. Ashleigh is a creative person at heart and is grateful to support the church community in her role.
Lyn LaPaglia, Music Director
Lyn is a graduate of Westminster Choir College, where she studied liturgy and sacred music. She is an organist, pianist, and choir director, with 10 years of experience in applied voice and approximately 15 years of experience teaching strings and orchestra and conducting.
Lyn is also a registered nurse with BSN, MSN, and MHA degrees. She is married to Joe LaPaglia, and they have six adult children and eight grandchildren.
Krystel Cronk, Children & Family Ministry Coordinator
Krystel has been serving in ministry for many years. She has a genuine passion for working with children and families and loves creating opportunities for them to grow, connect, and thrive in their faith.
She is happily married to her husband, Daniel, and together they have two children. Her family is a blessing to her, and she is grateful for the opportunity to serve others and be a part of their lives through ministry.
Nancy Thompson, Sexton
Nancy was born and raised in Hampton, Virginia. She has one sister and a niece living outside New Orleans, another niece in the Washington, D.C., area, and several cousins and aunts in the Hampton Roads and Lynchburg areas.
She graduated from Hampton High School and earned a BA from Virginia Tech. She is a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and has worked in accounting for the Commonwealth of Virginia for 24 years.
Nancy’s hobbies include gardening, home improvement projects, and crafts. She also enjoys gatherings with family and friends, traveling, going to the movies, and visiting amusement parks.
